Dog issue

Ang Mo writes in Pets & Animals

A dog in our condo has bitten one of the residents and it was on camera. This has happened before with another dog and the management caved, but didnt have the incident on camera. It clearly states in our bylaws that in the event that this happens the dog must be removed, but its still there. I am terrified of dogs and knowing this one could attack me is very worrying. Is there anything I can do to make the management remove the dog?

Check the rules of your condo and approach the management. If the rules clearly stats an animal must be removed if it has bitten someone, you should have grounds to make sure it happens. I can't understand why anyone keeps a dog in an apartment.

How you you be so negative about having a dog in an apartment. Not many of us can afford to live in a house but love animals and dogs. As long as a dog is properly cared for, having them in an apartment is no problem at all.

We have some dogs in our condo that bark all the time, its driving us mad. They leave 3 of them on their balcony most of the day, not sure what we can do other than poison some meat and feed it to them, but suspect that could be illegal!

really, ashley? would you really do that? wow. thats shocking, even to non-animal lovers. i guess it shows us what kind of person YOU are. yes, poisoning animals would be illegal. but it's also many other things- cruel, heartless, thoughtless, abusive, unnecessary, inhuman and just really, Really UGLY. and i thought we were the higher being. guess it's pretty clear where you rank on the totem pole. i could think of another use for the poison and it wouldn't be for the dogs. but that would make me just like you.

by the way, if you have an issue, take it up with the owners, suggest obedience/training classes, longer walks/playtimes, delayed feeds, have someone home with them for company, take it up with the management as a last means. i get that certain animal behaviour may sometimes be annoying, but it's up to us to be the bigger person and find a way to work things out. dogs are dogs- they bark. loneliness, fear, anxiety, play, personality. it's not their fault.

That was a joke! We have approached the owner and the management. The owners don't see the problem as they are away a lot of the time and leave it to their maid to look after the dogs. Its obvious the maid hates the dogs, as she leaves them on the balcony as less area to clean. I guess the next step is the police and will make sure we call them when the owner is out of the country. Unfortunately this owner, according to the management, owns many apartments in the block, that he rents out so likely hood is he has the majority vote over condo issues.

i think we can all attest to the fact that we or people we know have had problems with neighbours, neighbours' kids, neighbours' babies, neighbours' parents, etc. WHATEVER the situation, we try to be forbearing, conciliatory or find some other means of resolution. after all, we all js want to get on wth our lives, dont we?

by al means, call e police if u think itll help; altho going behind the owners back and waiting til they're out of the country seems a way of escalating the problem rather than resolving it. i doubt the police will take kindly to it either. if all parties were present, at least an open discussion of the situation and options would be possible and the owners might be mor likely to do somethg proactive abt it. it cd be a good thing for you, the dogs, and perhaps even e owners themselves.

as for e talk o poisoning the dogs and its legalities as being a JOKE, well........ i guess we have VERY different sensibilities and clearly, a very different sense of humour.
