Swimming is widely considered to be one of the healthiest fitness activities a person can do with the least likelihood to cause injury or muscle strain. But while swimming pools are bags of fun for adults and children, they also impose the responsibility for maintenance and safety.

Swimming pool safety standards are being brought in to effect in many countries - particularly with concerns for the safety of children. The Singapore National Water Safety Council has recently begun working with the relevant government agencies to promote and encourage safety awareness, motivate efforts to make sure children can swim and introduce safer swimming pool design.
