Perfect Provenance

Historically Singapore was located at the crossroads of trade between the East and West, so it's no surprise that international influences abound in the cuisine. From chilli crab to laksa, the foods of Singapore are influenced from the outside, but have that certain something that makes them singularly Singaporean.

tasty treats

Each phase of the year has its special flavours and a trip to the markets is an easy way to experience local food and discover the brightest and best available produce. To find out when and where, you can refer to the INFOrmation Page on Wet Markets in Singapore

Like to eat out in one of the region's many wonderful restaurants? Craving Tex Mex? Sushi? Classic French? AngloINFO can help you discover where to go to find the flavours you want. In the Food & Drink category of The AngloFILE, AngloINFO's local directory of businesses, you'll find listed suppliers of local and international ingredients, local restaurants, bars and pubs.

But if you'd prefer to sit back and browse through glossy pictures of perfect platters, have a look at the selection of titles in the Food & Drink section of the Bookshop.

Finally, the AngloINFO Local Discussions is an excellent place to share recommendations of local restaurants and food suppliers.

Bon appétit!
