Monday 13 July 2009Help On HandIt’s that time of year when AngloINFO sends out the annual newsletter on emergency numbers. Even if you’ve lived in a place for ages and know how things work, it’s easy to panic and forget everything when you’re caught off-guard by the unexpected. Knowing what to do and who to call can really make the difference in an emergency situation. SOS EMERGENCYIn Singapore, the following numbers should be called in the event of an emergency: Police call 999 (rapid response guaranteed); in the event of a fire or medical emergency call 995. These emergency numbers can be dialled from any telephone (even a public pay phone - without the use of a phone card or coins). Make sure that children also know them, and how to make a call. In addition, it helps to be well aware of your essential contacts for other categories of emergency help for situations such paediatric emergencies and trauma hospitals. AngloINFO has a comprehensive page on your local Emergency Telephone Numbers which you can find quickly from the right side menu of any page on the site: look for Emergencies under the main heading, "Essential Information".
And then, of course, it's always useful to know what to do in the case of lost or stolen credit cards, cheque book or mobile telephones. If you've been robbed, lost a bag or simply misplaced something, here's where you can find out who to call to put a stop on your cards or phone as quickly as possible: Featured Advertiser
