High Days and HolidaysEvery country in the world has its special national days off - and some have a lot more than others! For most people, these days are something to look forward to, when everything comes to a stop and you can enjoy the pleasure of a shorter work week or a long weekend. Local FestivalsTypically, holidays mark a significant national historic event or a religious festival. As we enter the fourth quarter of 2009, find out which holidays are still in store for you; see the AngloINFO INFOrmation Page Public Holidays. In Singapore, as in several other countries, a holiday which falls on a Sunday is made up for with a day off the following Monday or Tuesday. In addition to the national holidays, Singapore has a full calendar of religious and cultural festivals. At the moment Ramadan is being observed, with the celebration of Eid marking the end, later this month. Then there's the Chinese Lantern or Mooncake festival which takes place over the next few weeks. Find out about these and other highlights of the year with the INFOrmation Page Festivals in Singapore.
